History of the
Church of Saint Martin
1858
Saint Martin parish is one of the oldest in Stearns County. A Benedictine missionary priests visited this area on foot to say mass atLey's Settlements, named after Henry Ley, one of the earliest settlers. This area grew quickly. To this day it is a social hub for the entire Saint Martin community.
The church structure is not the original church built. The community grew so fast that within the first twenty years the church had to add on twice. In 1960s it was clear that this community would yet again need a larger church to serve its people. In 1969 a new structure began, while this was happening the community held Mass in the Community Center. The church was complete in 1970, this cirucular structure is the one standing on the grounds today.
