The Church of Seven Dolor

The roots of this parish started back in 1863. During this time many of the settlers focused on clearing land to build homes. Mass was infrequent. The first Mass was said in John Schwinghammers hhome in 1866. Then in 1868 the parish had its own building. This structure served the people for four years. Then in 1872 the town of Albany was named and a the frame work for a new church began. By 1889 the church was too small for the settlers that settled in the area. On August 5, 1900 the new church took place of where the old one once sat.
